very silent launch

Battlefront features the power of battalion-level combat in some of this period's most bloody and intense conflicts: Saipan, Market Garden, Novorossisk, and Gazala. Players will have realistic control over their soldiers, with a tactical scale just large enough to make a telling difference in the strategic picture.

There was a seven part series of Designer Notes at the SSG site (also posted here) as well as an interview. This forum has been open for discussion since last summer. We posted and sent out preview screenshots as well and several reviews are in the works. Unfortunately the timing did end up a bit later than planned so we might have missed the peak of awareness, but I wouldn't say it was silent.

I think he means the launch itself, i.e. yesterday. Nobody's saying there hasn't been anything during the run-up...

Yeah I meant launch itself...
I was following SSG website as well
but even after launch day, there was no post informing the fact. Just the AAR of market garden
I noticed that there was a complaint about silent lauch at wargamer forum as well..

Well start shouting to early everyone get upset.  We wanted to release the game and then follow up with some more fanfare.  Gamers are much more happy when they can order a game without waiting.

This is a case of where we're damned if we do and damned if we don't. I don't like telling people that the game will be available at a future time, because Matrix is working with a third party to deliver the downloads and such timing in advance just can't be guaranteed.

On the other hand, what can almost certainly be guaranteed is that the game will go on sale in the US at a time when we in Australia are asleep. So we're not asleep at the wheel, we are literally in bed!

This is not a game that will rely on hype or marketing hysteria to sell, so we just people to get the word out now that the game is really available.
