Aug 4th 1942

From the desk of Admiral Marky...

Today we begin a great crusade! 2 months ago we smashed the japs at Midway. Now, we will take the fight to them!

Our naval and ground forces are directed to seize, occupy, defend and buildup the island of Guadalcanal and surrounding areas. This will be our first real strike against the nips! For months, our motto has been, to Hit and run, but NOW, our motto is, Hit and STAY, and hit again, and again!

Our forces are even now approaching that island of Guadalcanal, and will in less than 48 hours land the 1st Marines and accompanying troops!

Intel reported one Battleship at Shortland, acting on this i ordered the strike

failed to hit any batytleships or even spot them, but did hit these 3 [:)]

The landing begins tomorrow!

the carriers will of course remain in the area to support the landings, and im not too worried about em, cept his subbyz, but the Long Island is at the center of an ASW group with destroyer escort, with 12 SBDs abopard, SE of the Canal. [:)]

theres also an escort force with the North Carolina incase he trys to intercept, plus the carriers are SE at full naval attack and providing fighter cover


then im gonna split em up posssibly, 1 will raid Shortland, and the rest will keep rproviding cover

i plan to take Tulagi as well, AFTER the airfield has been secured. i will probly fast transport the raiders over and sum base forces and use it as an emergeny repair base

and of course build up Marky Field into a bomber base

i of course intend to keep the carriers there and use them to strike targets of opportunity coming down the slot, as well to raid wherever possible


i will probly use my fleet boats as miners to lay mines at rabaul, shortland and possibly lae

and to deploy a defensive minefield at the airfield and tulagi


and of course use the Sboats and their more reliable Mark 10 fish as interdictors
