Mods Question

Post by JoeRockhead »

Can all mods such as CC2 be used, or only ones for CC3? I would like to try the Pacific mod for CC2.

You can't cross mod any CC (while that may not be exactly 100% true, it just too darn dangerous to even contemplate it unless you really do know what you are doing, so just pretend it's impossible).

So the basic answer is that you cannot use CC2, CC3 or any other CC Mod with CoI, apart from CoI Mods.

However, there are a huge amount of CC3 Mods available.  What we have done is upgrade and test a bunch of them which you will find by following the CSO Download Link in the Command Centre.  These Mods work with CoI (so don't try them on any other CC).

There is a PacMod for CC3 which I am sure will be upgraded soon.

We have an on-going agenda of upgrading any/all CC3 Mods to be compatible with CoI.  Step by step...

So to make sure you are tracking right, you cannot use CC3 Mods on CoI, as your comment seemed to indicate that you expected CC3 Mods to work with CoI.

A point of claification. In the CC series, one can only use mods that were made for that particular CC game. CC2 mods do not work in CC3, CC5 or CC5. CC5 mods do not work in CC4, and so on.

The reasons are that the maps for each game uses a different file for the elements coding, the data files are structured differently and some have more columnar information than others and the graphics are in one of three different formats.

One can convert a mod and maps from one game to another if they take the consideralbe time and effort, as several people have done in the past.
