Flak

Battlefront features the power of battalion-level combat in some of this period's most bloody and intense conflicts: Saipan, Market Garden, Novorossisk, and Gazala. Players will have realistic control over their soldiers, with a tactical scale just large enough to make a telling difference in the strategic picture.

Flak

Post by kypros »

First of all, great job on the game, SSG. I've played DB series before and am glad to see this worthy update. [&o]

Got a question on flak. Here's a quote from the manual:

"Flak units can also reduce the chance of a successful airstrike."

That's it on the subject. Some details would be most helpful. How much is the chance reduced? Is terrain a factor? Is range a factor?

Thanks.

Each flak unit has an effective range (Yellow number on blue hex background); this is the number of hexes out the flak is effective.

Within its coverage area, the flak will cause an airstrike to be less effective (i.e. if the airstrike normally has a 67% chance of hitting, then the flak reduces its success rate to 50%... increases die requirement by 1). Terrain can also modify airstrike effectiveness in a similar way but that happens independently of flak (these effects are cummalative).

Flak also increases the inherent likelihood of the airstrike hitting the wrong hex by 10%.

Is there a hotkey to highlight all the AA units range?  ... like in BiN

When I do airstrikes, I sometimes see a green arrow pointing at one of my stacks - is that a miss hitting my guys?

Arrow points to hex actually targeted. Maybe a hit or a miss in that hex.

Yep. F5 shows flak unit hex in blue and coverage area in yellow.

Yeah, this time I was paying attention, and instead of the stack I wanted to hit, the airstrike struck the adjacent enemy stack and leveled the strongpoint.
