Naval Unit Information?

Battlefront features the power of battalion-level combat in some of this period's most bloody and intense conflicts: Saipan, Market Garden, Novorossisk, and Gazala. Players will have realistic control over their soldiers, with a tactical scale just large enough to make a telling difference in the strategic picture.

Naval Unit Information?

Post by TheHellPatrol »

Read the manual thru 3 times last night[:@]...after playing Saipan scenario as Allied. There is no description of the Naval Units anywhere ie:Unit Info/counters.
My Question: what do the symbols mean? eg: DD. attack bar has a red #1, a yellow hex with "9" (range i assume) etc.
With a new system and no tutorial there should be a little more info guys[&o][:)][;)].

The manual with Battles In Normandy explained the units in great detail. Too bad it did not continue to Battlefront.

Heh. I see you recognize where the name is from. [&o]

Nice name for you as well, I've always liked Priest, although Painkiller wasnt one of my favorite albums. I like the older stuff. Hell Bent for Leather is my fave.

I agree about "Painkiller", only good tunes were "Hell Patrol" & "A Touch Of Evil" IMHO[8D].

Ha, I'm blind and a  first time user of this system, to say I'm confused is an monumental understatement, its a real pity there isn't a tutorial. I gonna try for a little longer, I'm sure there's great game in there somewhere.

The red number is the Danger Zone - no shooting at a target which has friendly units within this range.

The number in the yellow hex is the range. We should have explained Danger Zone in the manual, but the range display for naval units is exactly the same as for landbased artillery, and therefor shouldn't really have been a mystery.

Sorry to hearsome folks are having trouble finding info in the manual. Do you think it would help for now if we posted some of the past DB manuals in the Members Club for Battlefront owners?

What we NEED is an addendum, a "What's New" explanation of what has changed since the DB series. A DB manual will help complete newbies but still won't cover all the changes, many changes, to the system...Unit Icons...Arty...Naval...OMA...OPA(oops, no Opa's[:D]) etc.

Would someone please help me to find where exactly in the Manual to look for a description of the icons in the attack bar of an artillery unit & where it explains the the qualities of heavy vs. non-heavy artillery concerning the danger zone? I have read 16.2 about the Attack Bar & 15.5 about Artillery Units but I can't find anything specifically about these. I am probably missing something & I apologize.

Fantastic game!
