A Morsel or Two...........

Command Ops: Battles From The Bulge takes the highly acclaimed Airborne Assault engine back to the West Front for the crucial engagements during the Ardennes Offensive. Test your command skills in the fiery crucible of Airborne Assault’s “pausable continuous time” uber-realistic game engine. It's up to you to develop the strategy, issue the orders, set the pace, and try to win the laurels of victory in the cold, shadowy Ardennes.
Command Ops: Highway to the Reich brings us to the setting of one of the most epic and controversial battles of World War II: Operation Market-Garden, covering every major engagement along Hell’s Highway, from the surprise capture of Joe’s Bridge by the Irish Guards a week before the offensive to the final battles on “The Island” south of Arnhem.

A Morsel or Two...........

Post by Deathtreader »

Hi,

Was just wondering if anyone connected with the D&D of the game could take a minute or 2 and give us an idea of how any new features are shaping up. As an example "How are the previously mentioned immersion features shaping up??" Or are there any other goodies you might care to share with us?? No need for chapter and verse.... we'd all rather you spent large amounts of time D&D'ing.
Thanks! [:)]

Rob.
So we're at war with the Russkies eh?? I suppose we really ought to invade or something. (Lonnnng pause while studying the map)

Rob,

Here's a bone then. Catch! [:)]

I've done the "Retake Position" option and this works fine now, though the Panther Prowlers have yet to get their hands on it. I was hoping to put out a build for them later this week, but I'm being held up at the moment having to re-write some of the verification code so it works with Paul's new forceGroup code. That and the fact that I have to shoot up to Newcastle this Friday for my Mum's 80th birthday will make it touch and go.

I'm two thirds of the way through the Ignore Basing option. But this one has turned out to be bigger than I originally thought. Need to cater for a range of cases - eg if the user sets it to Ignore Basing during an attack and there is no reserve, or its a complex attack ( as it is often for the Base's boss - Regt or Div ). So a little messy.

Apart from the verification code the new forceGroup code looks good. It will require a lot of testing though. Now we can preserve cross attachments throughout the group. Previously any attachments were to the forceGroup subject or boss. This made it difficult to easily maintain a forceGroup of the current plans. We hope to provide options that will allow you to display command lines for each of the three forceGroup structures that exist in the game - organic, player plan and current unit plans. At the moment they only show the player plan on the map and the organic in the OB display.

That'll have to do for now.

Thanks guys. Unfortunately the doctors have said it will be her last. She's been fighting cancer off and on for the last ten years. A few weeks back they discovered some secondary outbreaks and they say she now has only two months to live. But she has a tremendous spirit. Her six kids and their families will be all there this weekend for her Birthday. So she will be surrounded by love. It will be an emotional time.

Thanks everyone. We had a very full weekend. My Mum's 80th birthday was great. She's very tired but enjoyed it. It was hard saying goodbye on Sunday.

As so often happens in life ( with one chapter closing another begins ) we left Newcastle with a new Shetland Sheepdog ( like a small Lassie dog ) for my daughter. His name is Rory and here's a snap.
