Now that I've jumped in the water

Post by elmerlee »

I'm very surprised.

Only had four cpu-cpu games but if 90% of the things the manual talks about work Max looks a lot better than I expected. The play editor in particular has the type options that will provide for a realistic game.

Probably will find this out later but haven't figured out yet. Can the distance from the field of the camera can be edited. The alternate cameras just seem too far away.

And I notice from the game logs there there does not seem to be and subs inserted by the AI. I hope that with fatigue on the AI would sub for tired players. Or even at other times. Anyone got the scoop on this?

Camera views are locked, I agree the ones that I use the most are a little to far for my liking.

I kinda miss the old feature on zooming, remember on the early builds when chosing different zoom, the view actually zooms in slowly, i kinda miss that, i use to get nice screen shots that way.

Most people will probably scoff at the idea, but I play from with the Top View (F6).

I agree.  The powerful play editor is one of the best features of Maximum-Football.  David has worked hard to add improvements that the Maximum-Football community has asked for.

The realism should get better as well.

The camera can be zoomed in the PDS, but not yet in a live game.  That feature request is on several wish lists.

Thanks for the replies. Yea 21sec i"d love to do that also but cannot see the players at all.

Now I'm a little frustrated. After a couple hours with the PDS every time I try to create a play it crashes. I get "two few paramaters" error. This occurs after getting a move point set for a player.
Also the manual says right click to deselect player but I have to right click and THEN left click. What the heck.
Why does the "add command" button not show as having been selected? It is enabled and seems to function, sort of.
Hope all this makes some kind of sense.

What version do you have? The version number is located on the top right of the title screen.

This problem is normally the result of installing a new version over the top of an older verison and one of the core files (specifically maindata.mdb) not being updated properly. I've also noticed that a couple of 3rd party roster and schedule downloads include a very out of date maindata.mdb file and that causes a lot of problems. I don't know if you've downloaded any extra things though.

If you continue to have that problem, please zip up and send the maindata.mdb file to support@wintervalley.com and I'll take a look at it. I may simply need to give you a replacement file.

Thanks

Hi

I received your file.

I'm not sure how or why that file is not being updated but, as suspected, that's the problem. There must be an issue with the installation not updating that file for some reason. I'll have to follow up with Matrix to see what could be causing that. It's happened two or three times now.

I've sent you, via email, the correct file. Just upzip and replace your existing one. That should correct the problem.

I'm not sure what you mean by working on this too long...

BTW, 1.3.149 is the most recent build. At the moment, there should be no patches applied over the top of that.

David - thanks so much. Works great and I think the play editor is now now only powerfull but very intuitive too.

What I meant by working too long was that I'm losing my concentration and making mistakes. Took and hour or so off to watch my Penguins win again and now I'm good to go again.

What are the chances of a zoom feature for in game. or a replay zoom instead of the 4 basic shots.
