Upgraded to 4.1 then 4.2 - still says 4.0?

Here's the quick and dirty: I downloaded 4.1 and 4.2 at work and along with some other stuff loaded it onto a CD. I took the CD home and ran the 4.1.exe file followed by the 4.2 file (both ran from the CD). It looked like things worked - no errors, etc. but when I re-started the game I still got 4.0 version number. First off - is it supposed to say 4.2 now? If so then should I copy the 4.1 and 4.2 upgrades to my hard drive (SPwaw directory) and run them from there? Any ideas are helpful.

My 4.3b at least shows 4.3b...are you certain you installed in the right directory? Check that you don't have a 'Steel panthers world at war' subdirectory under the main game directory.

part of the routine after "clicking" on the upgrade.exe program is to tell it where the files are. I did that and the program did something as the drive was up to something. I've been busy however and not able to try again. Thanks for the suggestion.
