Ready for RHS (I think)

Post by Buck Beach »

After umpteen hours of modem downloading the Maps I think (dubiously) I may be ready for a go. I am going with RHSCVO v 6.653 SO-060. The maps are the RHS digital version 6 with a last modified date of 10/8/06 (is this right?) Do I use the RHS 24-02 6.642 PWHEX? What about the the AW digital V 1.02 release panel, the RHS River ships released 3=-03-07 and the RHS V 6.653 PT fix.

Buck

I have downloaded one of the two Summer Maps 6.641 but I thinking they are not for my game. Right or Wrong?

1 Summer Map 6.641 is the correct map to use for v6.xxx scenarios
2 you have the correct PWHEX
3 AW maps were a special for Alaska Warriors Mod not for RHS
4 you seem to have the correct River Ship Pak
5 you need V6.653 PT fix-2 not the original release

get that and you should be right to go

One map file has hexes the other has no hexes. So both are neccesary.

Well here we go, the RHS 24-02 v6.642 PWHEX set contains 3 similiar files.  Which of the three go into game's top folder as per instructions (or do they all go there)?

We didn't upload the right class files - or they were corrupted and missing records - so that was fixed in a microupdate.

We found some device issues related to vehicles - M-8 Scout Cars and Soviet tanks - and we had some problems (which can only slightly be addressed) re Soviet OBs.

I forgot to send some ships to pick up 4 squadrons of planes, 2 AAA units and a division - which means players need to be more organized than should be required - while looking for the ships I found WWI Insect Class gunboats got mixed up with WWII ones - and that one was missing (the first war loss: Peterel) -

All this is in an update about to upload. For ease of players it will be comprehensive - all data files.

Another question Sid. I notice that all the ship & plane ART files have an August 2006 date on the akdreamer master RHS site. I already have these from mid-last year. From all the changes that have been made (or so it seems to me) are these really the most updated Critical Files?

I believe Cobra was waiting until freezing to update the site files. This should now occur. Meanwhile he posted Sendspace addresses to get updates. In addition - I have a primary distribution list - worldwide - so you can ask for files from someone and get them at any hour - even before they post. Mifune, Cobra and I routinely send out files - as I believe do others (probably Blitzk for example from time to time). I am sure Nemo would if you are in Europe time zones and unable to find the rest of us.

Note that there may not be a lot of new files for a while. My plan is to do pwhex for summer next - and that is the next thing you might have to worry about - unless something wrong is found that matters. Whenever Cobra completes the new plane art for EOS we probably will do an EOS update as well. That is "many weeks" out.

A question Buck as a dial up downloader - what would be a good size for you handle in one download - because at present I just zip up into 2 set normal and hex (24meg each) - it would not be a problem if I zip into smaller packages for dial up downloads

Actually, the 2 files are probably the best. Each one takes about 2 hours depending on the traffic. My download program is the "Internet Download Manager" that in most cases allows for restarts at the point in the download of a lost connection or pause. I also think that if the map file was further fracture is would result in more confusion. Thanks for asking.

Buck

I am now set to go and I have everything I need, unless there are more current "Critical" ship and plane files than are shown on the akdreamer RHS site.

Dial-up? It is almost quicker to mail him CD's with the files enclosed.[X(]
