Hi everyone,

I downloaded that monster of a wargame, Steel Panthers- WAW, all 360 megs of it, only to find out I can't install the bugger. After about five minutes of heavy disk trashing a) either I get a "disk full" message, even though I have about 700 megs free, or b) I finally get to the setup screen, until it asks me for the location of some "Disk A", just like Aces of the Pacific and Doom eons ago. If I select the default location it tells me the temp file is not there (I did a search, actually it's nowhere on my HD) Frustrating, you said?

Before inflicting heavy physical damage on my hapless computer, I tried Pacific War, but alas the setup program is the same, and so are the results.

Now, I really looked forward to trying these out, but I suggest Matrix replace that damn setup utility. Even just a big UHA or zip file would be better than that prehistorical disk system, IMHO.

Sorry if that sounded like a flame, I'm just frustrated.

Please help!

Use the search feature and see if anyone else had this problem. I browsed it and didn’t see any like this, but a more detail look might find some info. It sounds to me as if you have a bad download. Try either downloading it again (maybe using Get Right) or pick up the Dec. gaming magazine that had a Ver 4 CD with it. Hope you get it loaded soon its worth the download.

Hi,

Something similar happened to me. I received a file called VUTLEA5G.EXE 1644 kB large when I started to download. Starting it starts the setup program but very soon it asks for disk #2.
I started the download again and about 12 hours later (it stopped 15 minutes after I went to bed of course) I had the complete game. This was version 4.0 and the file was called WP4ON85.EXE 336649 kB.
I think BlitzSS is correct. You have to try again or pick up the magazine.

Good luck
