Crashing

I recently downloaded Steel Panthers 4.5. It took over 20 hours at 56K. I enjoy the game but it just shuts off after a few turns. I have a fairly highend machine and I have never had any trouble running even the most demanding programs. Can someone help? Sometimes I get to play 5 or 6 turns but sometimes only 1 or 2. There are no warning signs, it just closes out back to desktop
