Scenario Design & AI ?

Scenario Design & AI ?

When adding land units to a scenario if the unit doesn't have an objective and arrive at Osaka, will the AI do anything with it?

It seems the AI runs everything out of Osaka, so if a unit with an object arrives at a different base will the AI pick up the unit at the other base and deliver it to it's objective?

I don't completely understand what you mean here. I think I understand though...

If a unit has no starting point, it will show up in the home base for that nationality. So Japanese units with no base designated show up in Osaka. The objective of the unit is not taken into account. The AI appears to ignore objective too. I have spied on what the AI was doing and found units with objectives on the other side of the world from where they were.

I trying to find out if a land unit arrives in Osaka with an objective set, will the AI ship that unit to it's objective location?

I know that for the campaign the AI is scripted for resources objectives, that's why we see the AI invade the same places each game. I trying to find out what the AI will do with new units added to the campaign and if there is any way to get them to new target areas.

I've created new units and TF's so that Japan will invade new targets on Day 1, but after the initial landings the AI seems to forget about the areas, no resupply or reinforcements.

AI may take objective into account. But it is hard. If the command is wrong - it cannot load! You must set it to arrive in the right theater with the right command and the right objective - and also be lucky. If there are no supplies, no ships, or a host of other issues - it still will ignore the objective!

No, I don't think it does. The AI appears to be hardcoded to play a certain way.

I just wish we had some way to set or adjust the objectives of the AI with the editior!

If you are willing to do mini games, you have more control - and AI is smarter with it s modules. But you cannot do the whole theater.

Actually, you can not do the entire map this way. However, has anyone tested whether you could do substantially the whole theatre (map) by shrinking the map size accessed by a couple of rows? Maybe some of the extreme north rows? This might make a great 'mini' game.
