Plans for after the Bulge

Post by lyceum »

Can't wait for Battle for the Bulge but was wondering what next!

Russia?
Benelux and France 1940?
North Africa?
Italy?
Normandy?

Personally I would love to see the Pacific covered next. Fighting against and with the Japanese in Malaya, Singapore, Philipines, Okinawa and Marianas would be different and intriguing.

Can't wait to see what happens!

The Pacific is in the works. Guadalcanal and others are being considered.

I have thought for a long time after the Pacific in WW2 has been covered, that the Korean War would be great for this engine as well. I suppose sales will drive things getting that far.

Thats how you build up your posts[8D]

I would like to see the Pacific, plus work into the Indo-China conflict of 1945-1954. I can see the company level & command control working well on a Dien Bien Phu scenario.

I would love to see something from France, 1940. Also, although it's been done to death I think some D-Day/France 1944 stuff would be great with this engine. Anything that gives the Allies some armour to play with would be good too.

You will have everything you need (except the scenarios & maps) to do D-Day-VE Day in western Europe when BFTB comes out.[;)]

Hi all,

All good suggestions......but aren't the next 2 games North Africa circa 41 & Russia circa 41-early 42??
I'd love to see Russian front scenarios from early 43 to early 44 or the Winter War (maybe as an add or 3 on a release or two down the road) or Manchuria 45 as an extra purchase for the Pacific game or _ or_ or_ or_ or_ or............[&o]

Rob.
So we're at war with the Russkies eh?? I suppose we really ought to invade or something. (Lonnnng pause while studying the map)
Hmmmm... big place ain't it??

Indochina, 1951-1954 would be pretty interesting, Dien Bien Phu, and Mobile Group 100. It might be the first game engine to really give a good representation of that conflict.

la rue sans joie would also make a good topic.

It could also cover many of the battles in New Guinea, Wau/Bulldog, Gona/Buna, Milne Bay

I feel the game system is fantastic for a scenario from Bde to about 2 Divisions in size. I was playin a scenario and trying to scratch up a reserve from a company from & there and commiting them to a stretched defense.

Great feel.

I quite honestly don't see how can you model the odissey of GM100 in any wargame. If you note the sheer lenght they went , from skirmish to ambush, to eventual destruction it would be nearly impossible.

There are plenty of operations in the Indochina war that could be well suited for this sort of engine, however from previous experience I can tell that it's not a subject on the top list of game designers besides some battles are plainly difficult to model, like Operation Camargue, they're too assymetrical, it's a huge bunch of French troops , to hunt a single VM regiment, that quite simply instead of fighting opted to melt away onto the villages and jungle...

Being this clearly my pet subject I whish I'm wrong, heck , if they give us a Pacific War themed game and some freedom to include anything on the estabs that can even make an appeareance as a mod... (not going to happen I know [:D] )
