Detailed Combat Not Working

I wasn't sure if anyone else was having this problem or not. I've got "Always Detailed Combat" option checked yet all my battles are going straight to the Quick Battle screen. I don't even get the option to choose between instant, quick or detailed. On a positive note, the quick battle results sure do look realistic [:)]

I've set always detailed, and have had 3 HW so far.

This is because there are too many places for some options. On the main screen if you check always detailed combat when you get into the game go into the preferences screen and make sure Always Quick Combat isn't toggled. That has to be deselected as it overrides the main option selections.

Now I've noticed detailed combat is more choppy than before.  Anyone else with those issues or fixes?
