Why compress database?

Hi all,

TBird mentioned I might compress the league database in another post.

First, when would I do this? Second,why would I? I just don't know enough about this sort of thing. What does this do?

When you (or the game) delete a record from the database, it's not actually deleted. It's flagged internally by the JET database engine deleted but the data remains. Compacting cleans up all the deleted data removing it from the file.
