Patch V 1.01 Battlefront now available

Battlefront features the power of battalion-level combat in some of this period's most bloody and intense conflicts: Saipan, Market Garden, Novorossisk, and Gazala. Players will have realistic control over their soldiers, with a tactical scale just large enough to make a telling difference in the strategic picture.

Patch V 1.01 Battlefront now available

Post by Alex Fiedler »

The first update for SSG’s battalion-level strategy title has been green-lighted and is parachuting to a hard drive near you

Matrix Games and SSG (www.ssg.com.au) are proud to announce the release of an update for Battlefront. This first update file will improve on the already rock solid gameplay that comes with this World War II turn-based hit! The changes and improvements number just under a dozen and will give gamers an even smoother and more enjoyable wargaming experience.

David Heath, Director of Operations at Matrix Games, said “Battlefront comes ready to storm your hard drive and capture hours of your time right out of the box with its unique and innovative gameplay. Now with this new update, gamers will see SSG build off of their initial success to push Battlefront ever closer to the classic wargame status it no doubt will achieve.”

With an interface and engine based off of the award-winning Decisive Battles of World War II series, Battlefront brings battalion-level combat to new levels of accuracy and playability. Featuring some of the Second World War’s most intense conflicts like Saipan, Market Garden, Novorossisk, and Gazala, players will have realistic control over their soldiers, with a tactical scale just large enough to make a telling difference in the strategic picture. This level of play gives the player a chance to experience true issues of command, control, sighting, and supply at a level that emphasizes plenty of tough but enjoyable decisions to make.

V1.01

The V1.01 patch will invalidate v1.00 PBEM games.
  • Fixed a number of refresh problems in 1280x1024 mode, which could leave images incorrectly displayed on the screen.
  • Corrected a sighting problem where naval units and land units moving could incorrectly expose, or hide, enemy units.
  • Removed info on enemy supply state from popup menus.
  • Corrected a problem where a secure PBEM game would not load if it was interrupted during a turn. This problem would result in the game being unable to be finished.
  • Fixed a small problem where an End Turn warning dialog would occasionally incorrectly state that there were units still to move on the OMA screen.
  • The music volume setting is now remembered when the game is quit.
  • Fixed a bug where a dead unit could be recorded as having died a number of times.
  • Scenario files now show the correct briefing notes when starting a scenario.
  • Switch ground now works in the Editor
  • Added thread functionality to the AI (only applicable in advanced AI applications).
  • Partisans are now working in the Novorossisk Scenario.

Matrix, when is the next BF patch out? I hear you were passed the final version days ago. Why is it not up yet. This section of the forum has died due to the game being unplayable in PBEM and im so dissapointed ive even put the game aside, as have many others. Just an update would be good. [;)]

Yes, why haven't Matrix published the new patch yet? We're talking one file, for goodness sakes.

I'll check on what the schedule is. Typically though, if there's any delay on this side it's because the production team is chock full of work for other game or update releases that got into the queue first.

Hi Guys

Sorry but at times our production schedule gets a bit full and other items sometimes cause a slight delay.  I do think this patch is already scheduled to go out tonight.  Once I confirm this I will post it here.

thank you gentlemen for your attention; looks like it has now been uploaded:

ftp://ftp.matrixgames.com/pub/Battlefro ... R-v102.zip

let the PBEM battles begin! [:'(]

ps - strongly advise to finish any 1.01 PBEM games before applying 1.02 patch as the new patch will invalidate 1.01 PBEM games
