Missing partition

Hello,

I'm having a rather annoying problem with my new harddisk, a 40GB IBM 60GXP. Having partitioned it into three partitions, C, D and E suddenly partition E is missing. I suspect the data is still there somewhere as my CD-RW and DVD drives are still calles F and G.

I've never experienced such a problem before and don't really know where to start so any ideas to get the partition back will be appreciated.
