Couple of Qustions

Battlefront features the power of battalion-level combat in some of this period's most bloody and intense conflicts: Saipan, Market Garden, Novorossisk, and Gazala. Players will have realistic control over their soldiers, with a tactical scale just large enough to make a telling difference in the strategic picture.

Couple of Qustions

Post by jcrohio »

Am slowly getting the hang of this games and all it's symbols. I have a couple questions:
1. On the Incidental Data Screen (under the Terrain Menu choice) for the Market Garden scenario and the German player it says "Combat Shift Bonus +2 and Defensive Strength Bonus +80%". I know what a Combat Shift Bonus is but when is this +2 bonus given? Likewise, I understand what +80% Defensive Strength bonus is but when is it applied?

2. Also in Market Garden - each Sea Lane has a unique number (Assault Crossing Zone has a 3 for example). What does this number mean?

Thanks in advance for any help

1.  These sound like the entrenchment bonuses.  The +2 means that when an entrenched German unit is attacked (during a close combat) there is a 2 shift bonus as a defensive factor (-2 to close combat odds).   The +80% means that the base defensive value of the entrenched unit is increased by 80%.

2.  Each country uses its own sea lane for water crossings.  A unit can only cross water hexes that have its own countries sea lane available.... So there is one sea lane for the Brit Airborne to use, one for the Germans, and one for the American Airborne.   A given water hex could include all three of these (so that all three countries could cross the same water hex).
