player def. upgrades

Post by crocodile »

I don't see that in the manual.
What is exactly the effect of this option (in Realism Options) ?
What is the way to manage these upgrades manualy ?

It was included in patch after release. It allows you to change aircraft model fielded by air unit yourself instead of fixed upgrade paths.

There is a button on air unit screen to change the model for that unit. There are some limitations, like that you cannot usually change bomber to fighter etc...or carrier fighter to land-based one.

Ok,

Thus, I have a linked question : are the research paths for new airplanes models mandatory, or is it possible to pick up futur models for research as the player want ?

For example, is it possible to finalize the A6M8 Zeke project without search and/or product A6M3 Zero and A6M5 Zeke before ? Allowing this "shortcut" could take more time to create A6M8 Zeke from A6M2 Zero than from A6M5 Zeke, of course.
This would result in later progresses (less progressive) but also in more homogeneous airplanes park.

But I don't want to never get better airplanes just because I try to change the research strategy in the game !
