Pacific War & Carrier Strike questions

Post by newone52 »

I have a Dell Latitude laptop, running Windows 2000 Professional. I have 2 questions, one about Pacific War, the other about Carrier Strike.

1. [note: this happens when I let the computer play both sides] If I try to run Pacific War in Windows 2000, after a few minutes, the window (actually the it’s running in full screen) gets minimized. When I maximize the window, there are a set of wavy lines that appear in (about) the top fourth of the screen. It appears that the game is still running. I have been able to get it to run in safe mode, so I’m guessing it’s a driver problem??? Any suggestions?

2. When I try to run Carrier Strike, I get the message “Nel Fatal Error # 3” and the program ends. This happens in both Windows 2000 and in safe mode. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I can't comment on para 1 but I had the same error as in your para 2.

The fix to para 2 involved me setting the Carrier Strike sound selection to "J)".

Recommend you take a look at the threads in the Carrier Strike topic included in the Matrix General forum. Some great tips and suggestions can be found there. Rich's latest upgrade to Carrier Strike is also presented. Good luck.

Thanks. Selecting "J" for the sound allowed me
to get the game started. FYI, I encountered the
same problem as with Pacific War: if the game
ever gets minimized, when I open the window, the
top 1/4 or so of the screen is a series of line
segments. As well, the problem disappears when
I run my computer in safe mode.
