"unexpected error" (Puresim Baseball CE -- Vista)

I just brought up my new Vista-based computer and am now re-installing my software on it. Not having much luck with Puresim Baseball 2007. I've: (1) downloaded and installed the "official" 1.51 release, (2) downloaded and installed CE2 and (3) downloaded and installed CE5 update. When I start the game, the initial splash screen comes up, but then I get "Unexpected Error. Quitting". Not too terribly informative! Ideas?
