How do you plunder?

I've tried and tried I can't figure out how to plunder.

when you highlight a container I believe the command is along the bottom row of the box with the container information. Be aware any fort held by the enemy in a province will prevent plunder.

Yes, select the highest leve container (i.e. Division, Corps, Army) you want to plunder, then look for the "X" icon in the lower bunch of buttons and click on that to tell it to plunder. It will try to plunder the region it starts that turn in.

Ok, I understand the what you just said, but what military benifits are there to the units involved after they plunder?

Military units gain nothing, the advantage is if you destroy certain buildings you damage the will of the other side I believe. I would advice you not to pillage any city you plan to capture soon.
