Do units have specific weapon types?

Battlefront features the power of battalion-level combat in some of this period's most bloody and intense conflicts: Saipan, Market Garden, Novorossisk, and Gazala. Players will have realistic control over their soldiers, with a tactical scale just large enough to make a telling difference in the strategic picture.

Do units have specific weapon types?

Post by Freedom205 »

example, do units have a specific weapon type like Sherman tank, or Tiger tank? Or are they just listed as armor?

Thanks

Units operate by type and combat power.   There are infantry, tracked, artillery, support (engineer & flak), supply, and HQ type units.  Within a given type the combat power ratings will be very different.   Here are examples of tracked units:

A Tiger battalion might have attack strength of 20, a tank shock value of +4, and a direct fire value of 3 (67% chance of hitting in direct fire mode).
A Sherman bn might have attack strength of 12, a tank shock value of +2, and a direct fire value of 6 (17% chance of hitting in direct fire mode).
A Firefly bn might have attack strength of 14, a tank shock value of +3, and a direct fire value of 5 (33% chance of hitting in direct fire mode).
A PzGd bn might have attack strength of 22, a tank shock value +1, and no direct fire capability.

These values are set by scenario designer and can be tweaked as desired.

Most games of this scale don't actually list the equipment, but they do acurately represent what equipment the unit had historically via the strength ratings in different areas. If you are looking for specific equipment, a game with smaller scale such as tactical might be more to your liking.

To rephrase it:

A tank battalion never just has tanks.  Of course they also have jeeps, trucks and soldiers with rifles.

But for the purpose of the game a tank battalion only has tanks.

The unit icon shows which type of tank.

As for it’s variables, each unit has attack strength, defence strength, shock attack values. Shock defence values and many other values.

The designers have made the values proportionate so that if 6 Shermans took on 6 Tigers with all else being equal the wargamer would be happy with the resulting outcome.

You're able to see what type of armor a unit has:

Well, that's what I get trying to help when I don't own the product!
