New Install V.5.01 trouble....

Post by Tetchyy »

.... or at least it "might" be trouble if I could at least get that far <sigh>.

I have downloaded the program three times and all three times with the same result. I unzip and click the .EXE file to install, the screen flashes the initial blue install screen then.....
......NOTHING. After numerous attempts and various hardware/software configs, I'm at my very short wit's end. I have ordered the first Mega Campaign based on the many MANY great reviews I have read in these forums but have not yet received it. I am, needless to say, in a hurry to play this game.

Any suggestions appriciated...

Sys info: PIII 450,128mb RAM,SB-Live,ATI RagePro, Win98se.

TIA

Sound like a corrupted download. Where are you downloading from??? Here is a very reliable link to get everything up to ver 6.1 than you can upgrade from there. Armor site Choose the 6.1 complete download near the top of the page. Good luck

<sigh> Didn't work.... Same results as before. I've tried I don't know how meny different methods here with no luck. I have also read past messages in this forum and can plainly see that no one has posted a solution yet, nor for that matter has anyone whom reported this same issue posted saying that they have found a work around for it.

I have tried downing with both GetRight and without. I have tried rebooting prior to install. I have tried ctrl-alt-del. all progs except Explorer and Systray. I have tried......

Still looking for a solution because this simply *should* work.

Tetehyy: Open your explorer folder; scroll to matrix games, open; scroll to Steel Panthers folder, open; scroll down to mech.exe, click and pray...No guarentees but I suspect it'll help..your on your own...good luck..it worked for me once before...have you got game backed up on a disc ??? It always helps to have a back up just in case. I hope this is a Christmas present not a lump of coal... <img src="biggrin.gif" border="0"> <img src="biggrin.gif" border="0"> <img src="biggrin.gif" border="0"> <img src="cool.gif" border="0"> <img src="smile.gif" border="0">

It looks like we may be having a *small* misunderstanding here (but I could be wrong?); The problem is that I have not even been able to install the game from the unzipped program yet... I only WISH I could get to the point where it was installed so that I could say I can't get it to run.

Anybody have ANY suggestions? I REALLY want to try this game out. I have played WW2 board games for the last 20 yrs. and have yet to find a computer game good enepough to hold my interest for longer then a few hours. SPWAW sounds and looks very promising....

Tetehyy: That file should be in the unzipped download file, look for it there instead of my directions earlier..try to open from there...
