DDRAW.DLL problemb

DDRAW.DLL problemb

Since installing directx 8.1 I cant start LGA (and some other games that worked fine before) due to an error message: "(game title) has caused an error in DDRAW.DLL"

The drivers for my ge force2 are the latest, there are no reported problembs in dxdiag apart from a message on opening that "directx has caused an error in DDRAW.DLL"

Can anyone help me with this?

You can try to reinstall DirectX, but 8.1 has been know to have some buggy issues. I will try to find DirectX removal tools, so you can install ver 8.0 instead. One thing you can try temporarely is to turn off hardware acceleration prior to starting those games with issues. Ok found it here is a DirectX version reversal tool that a fellow gamer had posted when he/she had some similar problems with Matrix games and DirectX 8.1 issues. DirectX reversal tool

Gemfan, I've just been recommended a removal tool in the VGA site and its worked! Thanks for your suggestion mate.

Thanks for the tool link. My brandy-new Radeon 7500 started causing screen errors in SPWAW today; I had a feeling DirectX 8.1 was the culprit.
