Overlooked Japanese planes?

Post by m10bob »

The Mitsubishi B5m(Mabel) was a contendor for the role of carrier-borne attack bomber when yhe "Val" was accepted.
The "Mabel" however was appreciated enough that the navy did purchase 125 of them, used mainly in China. The planes performance stats and appearance were nearly identical to those of the "Val"

While the Ki 102 "Randy" is in RHS, its' true value as an anti shipping bomber may be over-looked, in spite of the arms given in-game.
The planes' 57mm cannon was a high speed reloader model, (quite unlike the slow-reload 75mm on the B 25), and the "Randy" could also be armed with 2 550 Lb bombs..
The plane also has 2 20mm cannon forward and a single 12.7 in the rear.
218 of them were built, in all versions, (including the very promising anti B 29 interceptor), of which approx 18 were built, again with that 57mm cannon.

The Tachikawa Ki 74 "Patsy" was the only Japanese pressurized cabin strategic bomber built with a range of 4350 miles and ceiling of 39,370 at 360 MPH!
This plane carried approx 2200 lbs of bombs.
Only 16 were completed, but one might wonder what they might have accomplished if employed in 1942 when first flown!

REPLY: Actually, the performance and function is nearly identical to the "Kate" (B5N) - so perhaps this was a typo?
And it IS in RHS as a dual type of aircraft - B5N and B5M are a combined type - and you get all 125 of them.

While the Ki 102 "Randy" is in RHS, its' true value as an anti shipping bomber may be over-looked, in spite of the arms given in-game.

REPLY: Would you prefer a Ki-102 with bombs to missiles? Or we could do a dual loadout - RHS has a way to give you the same plane with different loadouts - albiet only in certain units.

The Ki-74 is in RHSEOS using plane slot 41.
