Failure to Initialise

Post by chavez »

After applying the 3.8 update to a clean install I get the following error when starting from the "Quick Start" option.

"The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0150002). Click on OK to terminate the application."

When starting from the game menu nothing happens.

I had no issues starting the program with the orignal install or the subsequent beta patches.

We're looking into this but first a few questions and suggestions.

What Windows version and Service Pack do you have?
You patched a 3.7 ANW install to 3.8?

Start the game from the H3 Launcher/Configurator. You can find it under the Extras folder in the start menu folder for H3.
Start the game by double clicking on Harpoon3.exe in the Windows Explorer.

I have the same problem. The 3.8 patch was first installed over the most recent beta (build 11 I think). I also tried patching a clean 3.7 ANW install to 3.8. Won't work either way. Same error message as chavev noted above.
Running Windows XP 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2 Build 2600
I also tried running the exe file from explorer, the H3 Launcher and via the extras folder in the start menu----still no dice.

I may have tracked this down to a dll H3 uses.

If and only if you have the problem listed above, try the following. Download this zip and extract the file, allg42.dll, into your H3 folder.

http://www.harpoon5.com/public/alleg42.zip

-edit- It will replace an existing alleg42.dll file.

Hello All,

Just purchased and downloaded the simulation last night. After patching to version 3.8 I also had the same failure. Latest Allegro dll fixed the problem for me as well. Thanks ,

Dave
