New Version-Bug Report

Post by TimOusley »

Couple of things noticed in the new version--
1. When selecting a friendly unit, and clicking on the 'Set Speed/Altitude' button, the pop-up dialog box comes up...the confirmation ('OK') button says 'Cancel', not OK. In other words, there are two cancel buttons. They work as normal, one is just mis-labeled. Oops.
2. More seriously, land attack missiles seem to have less (or no) effect. Playing US side in Great Satan and in Midway Revisited, repeated hits on targets show no effect. This goes for TLAM C and D with multiple hits on a SAM site, and Sandbox missiles with multiple hits on Midway. I also added some B1-launched ALCMs to Great Satan, and again, 10+ hits on a single SAM site and the target seems to survive. This is in Easy mode so detection shouldn't be a factor. ASuW munitions seem OK. This behavior is confirmed in the AA logs (verbose), where all hits are documented but the target is not destroyed.
Any suggestions?

Tim,

Can I please have some details regarding the DB you were using? Also I'd like to see the logs to double check what's happening here. There are a number of possible causes and with a few more details I can start hunting this down.

Cheers

Darren

Darren--
With regard to the land attack missiles, I'm using the Standard Harpoon Database.  I'm assuming these are issues with the 3.8.0.2 Alpha build 2, never experienced the problems before then.

Hello Tim,

take a look at your screenshots title. The version you are using is the Alpha 2 version of the next patch and not the 3.8.0 release version. May I ask where you downloaded that file from?

Anyways, if you send me your E-Mail address I can probably get you set up with the correct executable which you only have to drop into your Harpoon 3 folder to get the correct version running.

Cheers,
JP

Hello Tim,

both of those issues are related to the Alpha 2 release (I found them in the AGSI bugtracking system where they had been entered already). So both of them should not happen in the official 3.8.0 release (You had me worried there that you were using that version).

Anyways, thanks for posting those issues if you notice anything else in those versions please let us know about it. However, it would be great if you could add which exact version of the game engine you are using so we can reproduce the behaviour on our end.

Thanks again,
JP

Thanks JP,
I take off to answer an issue on another forum return and you've solved the problem. [:)] Thanks also to Tim for looking at things.

Sorry guys I got my sites mixed up and should have placed these in the AGSI site, not here.  My apologies.

Im guessing that alpha version is the one Vincenzo(?) found in another thread. Haven't updated with either yet so it is just a guess.

Edit: If the above is the case maybe it would be wise to make a sticky or something warning people about issues with the update named "harpoon3anw-update-380_2.zip" and they should get the one from matrix servers instead.

No, despite the different name both files are identical, 3.8.0.0 .

The Alpha version is not publically availabe and currently restricted to members of the Harpoon 3 Content Provider channel and selected beta-testers. I should think that testversions will become available publically again once the major defects are eliminated and development moves on to the Beta stage.
