Other Scenarios for CAW

Post by pcelt »

I am new to this forum and game and noticed that someone made a reference to the fact that the" guys at r5" had already made additional scenarios for CAW.
Could anyone please clarify for me where these are available and how to access such scenarios.
Many thanks for any info

If you mean this one (?)
Judge, are you aware that the folks at r5 community have made dozens of FREE add on scenarios? the decisive battle games .. are like buying a set of legos.. toy blocks to build with.. this game, much the same.. great engine as we have come to expect from SSG.. just my .5 cents worth

Freeboy was talking about scenarios for SSG's 'Decisive Battles of WW2' games, not CAW. No doubt some user scenarios will come along sooner rather than later, though.

The guys at Run 5 are us. For a long while SSG had its own print magazine, 'Run 5', named after the Run 5 Minutes command in Carriers at War. This magazine contained new scenarios for our various game systems.

So there are lots of Carriers at War scenarios created for the previous version of Carriers at War and we'll we helping the mod community get some of those made using the game's editor, others we will redo ourselves.

I know this has probably been asked, but I can't seem to find it

Anyway, are the maps and ships from the european theater included in the database? Also are there any what if ships and planes included? Thanks.

I also want to say that in 24 years of wargaming I had never had a game that gripped my mind as much as the original CAW. I remember being at work thinking of new strategies to try. No other game even came close. I don't know what some of these people thought they were buying or looking for in a wargame but to me CAW is tops.

The maps and database included with the game are pretty much only what is necessary to support the current scenarios.  Any map, ship, or plane you want can be created from scratch.  The biggest challenge in my opinion, assuming you have the stats you need for equipment, would be creating the art for the map and equipment.  I say that as someone with no artistic talent whatsoever.

Ha, so there will be some new officially-supported (and some semi-official) scenarios? Very nice.

I am looking very forward to having all the CCAW scenarios adapted to the new version.

gree, BUT you get about 40 new scenarios all told, more? among them some thatfar surpass imo what shipped.. as for caw, seems that any moment you will see something.. and R5 was a ssg pub, then a private hosted, with SSG blessing forum/ fan club.. now back hosted by SSG I think.. great group imo!
