First post and a query for the developers

Post by Geomitrak »

Hi all, I've been a fan of the old Talonsoft games since they first came out, and its almost a relief to find that they are alive and well, and under renewed development. I'll be downloading the package at the weekend, and am very much looking forward to exploring the new units and nationalities.

I have a question for the developers: how easy would it be to add the armies of the immediate post-WW2 era ? Generally speaking, much of the equipment and weaponry from WW2 were still in use well into the 1950s, ( yes I know there are exceptions...helicopters for one ), but it wouldn't be too difficult to do , would it ?

I have to state a vested interest here: I really would like to recreate the conflict between the colonial French and the Viet Minh, culminating in Dien Bien Phu. I saw that some people would like to see the Vietnam mod for Divided Ground 'official' and I wholeheartedly agree, but if that were not practical, could we see a 1950s expansion for the Campaign series ?

Of course, it could include the Korean war too, but its French Indochina that I'd really love to have!

The Order of Battle Editor has been changed so it includes the dates between 1930 and 1953 for all three games. After that, to fulfill your request it is just a matter of creating the units and order of battles. Not difficult to do, just time consuming.

Thanks for the quick reply Jason. Does Vietnam / French Indochina figure at all in the future development of the Campaign series ? I see there is a New Unit editor available, so it not inconceivable that someone like myself could have a crack at it, but if you guys already had it it mind, it would be excellent news. [:)]

I know a lot of work is being planned for Rising Sun, I would imagine an addition of Vietnam/French Indo China could be something to look at in the future. Asiaticus would know more than I in that regard!

Hope that helps

Thanks again Jason. About a year ago, I read Martin Windrows book 'The Last Valley' and can't recommend it highly enough. Its a battle that has a hold over me. [:)]
