Devastators redeemed -- kinda

Post by themattcurtis »

I actually got to play last night -- got my butt kicked as the U.S. in the Wake Scenario, which doesn't sadden me as it was the first day I even got to touch the game.

But the Japanese victory wasn't entirely bloodless -- as Aoba found herself coming out of a weather front within knife-fighting range of both Lexington and Saratoga. Devastators launched from the carriers' decks managed to hit and SINK the cruiser. [8D] Dive bombers managed to seriously bloody a Japanese CV, and I sank a couple of Maru(s), as well. But in terms of tonnage lost, it was a bad, bad day[:(]

I gotta say that the strike screen is cool to watch -- it went by slow enough for me to register the torpedo tracks from weapons dropped by US and Japanese planes, as well as the geysers thrown up by the dive bombers. Very immersive stuff. [:D]
