Thank you.  If I seem ignorant, it is because I am ignorant.  I've stepped from one area of ignorance directly into another.
 
What is File Transfer Protocol?  I'm aware there are mods at various sites and various links for articles.  How is this different, or is it the same thing?  I'm trying to learn.

FTP is nothing to do with the game. It's just a computer transport system to allow files to be downloaded from a server.
