Boston question 1775-1783 campaign

The british forces in Boston are unlocked and I have the fleet there, but I can not seem to load the army there on the ships. I combined both armies, does that make it to big? Or is it just a matter of not finding the right spot to click for fleet?

I bet your combined Brit armies are too large for transport, and if so, there should be a fleeting (as in quick) message that appears at the top of the screen saying just that every time you try to load your troops unto the fleet.

But I think you have to be patched-up (to 1.12?) to get this message.

I finally figured out to use the tabs, but I only moved one army at a time. I do have 1.12 finally though so ya I get those messages that go by to fast to read )

Fixed units cannot be moved by sea either-except, I think, naval batteries.

I can't recall how many times I unintentionally got a bateaux or a locked garrison into my troops/fleet, and then couldn't do anything w/them until I realized what I had done.

There were no locked units, it was well after the 2 forces were unlocked. But like i said i figured it out.

Are you replying to me or Jagger2002? You already said your troops were unlocked in your original thread.

I do still have other problems. Even using tabs. But the biggest problem is splitting a force. The game auto grabs the leader. SO basicly if your splitting you need to do the split by selectin gthe units you want to STAY with the original leader rather then the other way round.

Boston still gives me problems with loading on fleets. Sometimes I can sometimes I have to go through back flips to get the troops to load.

mmmh, when you select a stack, there is the leftmost unit selected by default, which is often a leader. But if you don't want him, just click on another unit. Then add others by doing ctrl-click. If you want to unselect a unit, ctrl-click it too (this is a toggle).

I've had some trouble dividing my forces as well, but thought it was just carelessness on my part.

Good. I suppose it is a question of habit with drag&drop and stack manipulation. What is 'funny' about interfaces, is that everybody has a different opinion on what is a good interface or a clumsy one.

(Although most of the BOA users tend to agree our is above average, and you get hords of tooltips too...)

Overall the interface is fine in my opinion. You can not ever please everyone, so just accept we all find things we wish were different ).

I continue to have trouble loading armies on fleets, but after several tries usually find a method to make it work.

A irritant point. I captured Manhatten which had a batauex in it, my fleet was in Boston but Lord Howe somehow ended up in command of the single riverine naval unit.
