Capitan? What's that?

I just got my boxed copy and right at the top on the back it says "Your task is clear, Capitan, find the enemy carriers and sink them before they find you."

What is a Capitan?

There used to be a Santa Fe passenger train named El Capitan.  Maybe that has something to do with it.
