Retreats ..

Post by IrishGuards »

I just wanted to mention on behalf of the Human Allied player I am playing in 1 game .. July 1941
I DoW on Iraq, took the free (4) oil field and then just started to move down towards the prize .. a (10) Oil field in Iran .. I bypassed the Iraq Capital ... He moved the Iraq garrison out of the city .. In 1 move I had an Arm come back and hit him ... he was adjacent ot the Cap .. he retreated north instead of the Cap ... very suprising as this means Iraq will fall next turn I have ..
I realize units will retreat away from attackers if possible .. but .. I think he should retreat back to Cap . [&:]

Point well taken, I mean in reality a unit would always fall back to a friendly city instead of being in the open.

Same thing just happened to a Allied human player I am playing ..
I DoW Holland .. I attack w arm and move the garrison back to the coast ..
Then I move in and even though I have not advanced into the hex vacated by the swine retreating garrison .. the Corps retreats north .. I just keep pushing him along ..
Since Holland falls the next turn he can't reach my north Ger city .. he can get adjacent ...

I hope I get some partisan garrisons like I did in 1 game where the swine Allied player .. I mean my talented opponent ... went into Germany in the south by the Maginot .. 1939
He took some hexes .. no cities and then retreated in the face of the vaunted Wehrmacht ..
I got at least 1 partisan corp out of the deal .. I think he killed a Corp of mine ..
