A couple of Newbie questions

I have just got this game and loving it, I use to love playing UFO enemy unknown as they spoiled it after that and this game is similar to that only improved. Ok questions

I have just produced a mind shield but how do you equip it on a person as there is no slot for headgear ??

I heal my soliders in the missions but even though they are fully healed sometimes they still go to hospital on returning to base ????

I lastly even though this has been asked before still not sure, I have built 3 bases so far but never seem to make enough profit to build a 4th one. I sell all my researched alien stuff and get rid of anything I can but still struggle to make a profit ??? My funding seems to be going down how can I stop this ???

I'm not an expert here but will try to answer.
 
1.  You don't need to equip mind shields.  just carry one in any place it fits and it works.
 
2.  The healing is tied to the most damage they take.  Even if you heal, unless the wound is very small you will spend time in the hospital.  the larger the wound the more time in the hospital.  The reason to heal is to prevent them from going down. and really racking up time in the hospital, plus at least I allways feel I don't have enough troops to watch them go down while looking for that last bad guy or two.
 
3.  I've found the best thing for this is simply to intercept every craft that enters your air space.  This makes the countries happier and increase funding up to a max.  value.  i also tend to not cluster my bases to maximize my coverage of the planet surface.  Allways intercept craft over countries you have bases in as the max they give is higher than the countries you don't have bases in I beleave.

one thing I forgot to mention. after your ground combat missions you can sell the alien items for some quick cash. but you might want to hold them until you research them as they are worth more after they are researched. In addition at least Bman's mod has a bounty for aliens killed and that also helps with cash... I've only played Bman's mod so I don't know if the others have this feature as well

3. Cut back on scientists and engineers. In the early game you cannot afford more than 10 of each. So, if you build more labs and workshops you will go broke fast. Wait until you have more bases. Also, some bases do not need interceptors until later. Time your base building with the amount of cash you have so you can build bases at a bout one per month until you get around 6 bases or so.

One base a month??? Where are you getting this cash? Im in July of the first year and cant afford a second base yet. Every month I about break even
