New Template Coming

Post by PadresFan104 »

Guys - Just started a new Association and thought I'd post it as a template. Look for it in the coming days, maybe over the weekend. Here's the details:

- Starts in 1968
- The American Baseball Association is made up of the Continental League (larger markets) and the Great American League (smaller markets)
- 60 man rosters
- Finances are on
- There is no DH in either League
- Teams are using 5 man roatations and modern closer usage
- Each team has a custom logo
- Each team has custom player photos [;)] (this will take some time)
- Minor League Affiliates have not been given custom names
- No custom ballparks (all set to the default)

this might seem like a dumb question but is this modeled after leagues that actually existed in 1968? if so what teams were in it back then?

Not a dumb question, but no, it's not modeled after any real leagues. I just like to pick 1968 as a starting year for my leagues since it was the year I was born. [:)] Also, if people want to create some history for their league, they can always auto-sim from 1968 to 2007...

VERY nice...

...very nice indeed. That looks like it would be a great association to play. Good cities, good mascots, lots of fun.

Just curious though, "Portland Explorers", which Portland -- Maine or Oregon?

Here are the Power Rankings (top 10) for 1968... Interesting that a small market team, Winston-Salem, is #1 to start the season. They have the 9th highest payroll in the Association, and the 2nd highest payroll in the Great American League, after Portland.

Each team comes with 35 player photos (enough for the bigs and AAA in most cases). I've pre-assigned the photos, but will include them with the .zip of the template in case you want to switch them around. Here's what they look like...

Template is on it's way through the ether... It's a big file, about 65MB compressed, so it'll take a little while to be ready. It got bigger since I decided to go ahead and add stadiums, and include a folder of facepack images.

I'm going to start playing it myself. If anyone else tries it out, leave me some feedback!

Did you zip that file up with that 7-zip utility?

Hey Padresfan what ever happened to your NAMBLA Association?  We had a good thread going in the Locker and then everyone quit posting how their associations were going.  I still have mine sitting on my other computer.

I just zipped it up with the standard windows xp .zip utility. (Right-click, Send To -> Compressed (.zip) Folder)

Yeah, I got tired of the NAMBLA association for some reason.  Sorry about that!

I downloaded the template and started playing and it is a lot of fun very well done on it. though I was suprised at some of the stadium choices you made considering the association starts in 1968,you really dont expect to see Minute maid park in there :)

Reason I asked on how you zipped it up is because I believe that 7-zip utility will make the file smaller. It has better compression.

LOL, yeah, I guess I take the term fictional to new heights with the stadium choices... I just like to have something interesting to look at while I'm playing...

I dont blame you at all....and i guess you can take from what i said that i chose to be the Las Vegas Aces and in my first game we lost to the hated Michigan Panthers 6-3

I guess I can just picture Minute Maid Park standing back in 1968 :P

LOL, glad you are having as much luck as me.  I'm managing the Surf, and we lost our first game at the 1968 Petco Park to the hated Coasters of Anaheim, 6-5.

Well, James didn't get injured on opening day in my Association, but he got knocked around pretty good by the Panthers in an opening day loss.  In 7 innings, he gave up 8 hits, a HR, and 4 earned runs.  Michigan won, 6-1.
