April 1949

Post by junk2drive »

Been a while since I played SPWAW. I started a battle today as USA vs Soviets April 1949. A Co of Arm inf and some M46, M4, M6 (or T6 or whatever those are, lol)

I am on advance and the next thing I know a herd of Soviets are all over my side of the map. IS4, ISU122, T34, T54, SU100, T70.

I had a Patton hit, crew stunned message. Don't remember that message before. Bazooka malfunction message at the worst time.

Vis 7, raining. Bodies and burning hulks everywhere. Enh DVRN all options on exc c and c.

Give it a try if you are tired of WWII.

By turn 6 I am overrun. I have retreated some units but I don't have many left.

I don't know what Enh does to pricing after 1945, but for me to be on the advance, spending 5000 pts, it looks like the Soviets have 3 times the units.

Sov inf has AK47s and RPG-2s. Add T44s to the list.

M6s are a twin gun POS that dies quickly.

Should not be using the M6s...they were an experimental model not worth their weight on the field. Buy Pershings or Pattons for good armour and mobility.

What settings are you using for the Soviet side? Did you by chance set AI Advantage, or the Hardx2 setting? What points are you allotting to the Soviets? Are they Advancing as well in a Meeting Engagement?

In pref screen, realism settings are all on except C&C. No AI advantage, rarity on, everything 100%.

Points in pref is xxx but during my purchase I clicked max points and saw 19k something. But I figured since I spent 5k the AI would spend the same or less.

I have seen those MEs where I think I am advancing and the enemy defending only to be surprised later. VLs on my side of setup shold have been a clue...

Finally over, USA ~8000 USSR ~20000

By turn 11 I had force moral broken and most of my tanks gone. By 15 it was over but my A0 was alive. Had to go the full 22 turns to see the score.

AAR map showed the Soviets had a ton of units. I guess the AI got to use 20000 points.

Hopefully battles against the AI being harded now adays is a result of our reworking alot of the "AI" formations during the last 2 years

It worked a lot better by setting the max points in prefs.

Very tense for the first 3/4, then the AI starts walking into traps.

Marginal vic.
