Very Nice Game

Post by Leegen »

Just wanted to say thanks for a great game from a new player. I have always been interested in games modeling the War Between the States and I must say this is the best I've played. I really enjoy macromanaging the economy and the detailed battle system is the best I've seen. I especially like the way the Generals impact play both at the strategic level (by training) and during battle. The only minor complaint I have is that ALL the Union generals (not just Grant and Sherman) have figured out by turn 1 that the way to defeat the Confederates is to bleed them white by attacking turn after turn regardless of how many times they get their butt handed to them. Boy, Lincoln would really enjoy this game lol. I'm sure there are ways that I can go in and adjust the initiative of some of these guys, but just haven't bothered to research it yet. Once again, thanks for a great product!!
"But sir, how would that make him a better general?" Lee to Longstreet's request to courtmartial Stuart for disobeying orders.

Leegen,
Thanks for the kind words -- they're great to see.

Generals' initiative ratings are easily modified.

I think that armies that have just been defeated are supposed to think long and hard before attacking again right away. Maybe a little tweaking is in order. But at least this Grantlike approach by the Union AI makes for quite a challenge.
