No more research, now what?

Its mid july of the first year. I cant afford a second base yet, but everything I can research is researched. I have plasma weapons not able to research. Not sure if I have captured every enemy though..

You probably need to capture and research live commanders. That will open up the research tree.

Interrogation room? I dont see that available. I do have a captivity/containment room.
 
How do you know if an alien is a commander??
