AAR: Defense of the USSR part 13

Post by Vic »

I lost the equivelent of about 40 divisions in 3 weeks time.
Almost everything i managed to do in the 3 happy blizzard turns is now undone again.

Stalin had a nervous breakdown! But i calmed him down and pulled back some troops closer to Moscow. I still hope to hold the line!

Stalingrad is also under heavy pressure.

The only light spot is the Caucasus front. I managed to take Rostov and i repulsed an armoured spearhead near Maikop.

Stalin was considering relocating his HQ back to his native Georgia. I however told him that Moscow will soon be the last victory point in our hands since Stalingrad will fall any week now...

See, that's what happens when you purge your officer corps just before a major conflict!

German turn 14 - March, 1942.

Got good weather this turn. It did not really matter too much since most of my units were already in solid contact with the Soviets. The during the Soviet turn, they inflicted about 200 infantry casualties and lost about the same. During my turn, I was able to inflict much more damage. I found the Soviet air force east of Moscow and was also able to hit them hard with my improved fighters. Here is the casualty totals after my turn was over:

Here is the situation near Moscow. I lost some tanks here in assaulting the entrenched positions.

In the south I was able to capture Stalingrad. I can now focus the brunt of my reinforcements to the North and my final objective - Moscow.
