Ghost planes...

Post by castor troy »

PBEM BigB1.31 my opponent downgraded P40c to P38 e/f and during the combat replay there are only P40c shown but actually they are treated as P38 as they took my planes down in droves and I always have seen: P38 shooting at Oscar / Zero...

But there was not a single P38 at this base. AVG climbing (AVG used P40c)... AVG engaging... P38 shooting.... but AVG has no P38s.

Are there any problems with downgrading aircrafts? I´m now facing P40c that the game treats as P38 and instead of achieving something around 1:1 I´m now losing 30:1 against them. Pretty serious for me. [&:]

Sorry - i don't understand what you are saying. [&:]

You said your opponent had "downgraded"(?) P40c to P38s - so if he had, there should be P-38s present... but then you say "there are only P40Cs present" - but P-38s are shooting down your aircraft... but there "should be no P38s present"...

i am confused...[&:] [&:] [&:]

EDIT - it appears P38s were at the base (on the ground) and got bombed... i don't take TOO much stock in replays, esp. with large air battles. It sounds like the replay verbiage is confused which generally happens in large battles.

From what I understand:

His opponnet had P-40C at the base.
He upgraded them to P-38E/F.
He then down-graded back to P-40C.

While the bitmap shows a P-40C, the game evidently thinks that the planes are still P-38E/Fs.  The in-game messages during air-to-air are for P-38E/F, and you can see that the scoring is for P-38E/F as well.

No, there was no P-38 at the base. Unit was downgraded from P-38 recently. Also no P-38 show up during recon flights, only during last combat. I'm not sure if game really "treating" AVG planes something different from P-40C, since we had similar results without any ghosts. But problem is quite obvious - planes appear in report which were not even close to this place.

Yes. The only difference that group was downgraded at other place.

Feinder is correct, he can understand my confuse English! [;)] Helpless upgraded the P40 to P38 in India, then downgraded them again (probably also in India) and moved the P40 to China.

Here´s a screenshot of the replay. While the Pic is a P40, my aircraft get eaten alive by P38...

send to (remove blanks):

rtrapasso @ gmail.com

State where the unit in question is, and provide PW(s) (have your opponent send PW and save to me separately).

Save should NOT be finalized...

I dont know if "incidental aircraft" show up in the cartoon (meaning CAP at near by bases that decides to see what all the excitement is). It is possible this is where your P-38s are comming from.

Don't think this is the problem... it may be the P40s are actually P-38s due to the "downgrade" ...

IIRC, I've been upgrading divided sub-groups and them merging them..

is it possible to make them P-40 again somehow. i moved them to rear area and it will take sometime gather required fighters in order to try another upgrade..

What patch level are you playing?
You shouldn't be able to merge planes of different types together.

Finally ran the turns (major problems in doing so - it took i think 8 download attempts before i could get the thing to load and run).

Anyway - the turn did not replicate exactly, but that is not terribly surprising since i don't have the Big B mod loaded. It did show lots of P-38s in the hex though.

There MIGHT be a problem with the "downgrade function" - i will forward this one to the programmers.

You shouldn´t need the mod as everything is "in" the save.

Lots of P-38s in the hex is surprising as Helpless said there isn´t even one in the hex... [:(][&:][:(]
