Error 771

Post by doc smith »

I have WitP, a 2d with Andrew Brown's map, and WPO. I had them installed on an external HD. I had to upgrade my computer. I have a HP Pavillion Media Center PC with XP. I copied a shortcut to the exe files for each pgm to the desktop. When I click on any, the program starts to load, then
I get an error 771. Didn't see that one listed here under tech support.

What version of WITP are you running? These sound like an older version...

If he upgraded his computer, it may not have the registry key for WitP in it...he said WitP is on an external drive...

Yeah, but the error code is from older version of WITP...

What kind of computer upgrade did you do? All new computer? New OS? Patched OS? Other new hardware?

Latest info - I reloaded WitP on the C drive (new drive) and the Andrew Brown version on my M drive (the external one) now runs, so I suspect there must have been a registry key on the old C drive that isn't on the new one, or wasn't until I reloaded the program. Have to do the same for WPO, I guess.

Thanks!
