Bazooka, Piat etc.

Post by Dili »

Seeking opinions about adding AT Teams with zero range for Bazookas, Piats, Panzerhrek's and that way simulate the resistence that later(1943) units had against Tanks. I am thinking to qualify them as army weapons they'll have an accuracy value but i am not sure if army weapons work with zero range.

I put them in - as attachments to infantry squads. The Anti Armor value of a squad in RHS is its penetration in mm (because that is the WITP system) of the largest AT weapon in the unit. A rifle of .30 cal = 8 mm, for example.
Separate squads are not really required - and in WITP there were not enough slots. If you are slot fat ...

Well i am not of opinion to put 100mm of penetration to all Infantry squads. Many of them didnt had a Bazooka and others were not able to use them due to tactical situation. But you are right that slots are an issue.

We could go over to generic squads - use em for more than one nation - we do that some already - and free up slots that way. It would take a lot of work.

In this side of the world we have Tigers and Churchills [;)]. For Pacific i am not sure it warrants a change unless for highly speculative scenarios with Japanese tanks.

Lacking Japanese tanks to shoot at those troops that had them found bunkers and so forth adequate substitutes.

And once the US Army did get to shoot at Japanese tanks - the Second Tank Division engaged on Luzon - technically.
Except the range of Japanese guns was such that they never could shoot! The US tanks deliberately refused to get within range (so much for confidence in their armor protection) and just kept shooting until there were no targets left.
