The First Of Many Questions

Post by tgb »

Played enough of the game to finally get comfortable with the interface, but one thing I still can't figure out is how to dig or improve trenches.

Also, if anyone has any suggestions regarding how the Entente should allocated naval resources, I would be happy to listen.

tgb,

To dig trenches you need to allocate resources to them in the strategic phase. If you have entrenchments available you can also click on the hexes in the strategic phase (from memory) to deploy them.

Trenches will be worn down by combat so you need to keep allocating resources to replace them.

Entente naval resources - control the seas - get your warships patrolling the North Sea and Atlantic and take control of them. Get some destroyers out there too to combat enemy subs.
Deploy your transports to ship supplies to Britain (in particular), and make sure that you set a few transports to amphibious so that you can get the BEF across to France and Flanders. (and maybe deploy one in the Atlantic to get the Canadians over too!)
Watch that you do not run out of naval resources - your ships will return to base after a while and will take more naval points to get them to see again - or refit them if they are damaged. I usually buy a few extra transports for the British very early on because they are so critical. If you run out of naval resource points you can easily spiral out of control - as you rapidly lose industrial production and everything can grind to a halt.

As with all things in the game - so few resource points to allocate - so many things to spend them on!

Regards.

Yes you click on a unit in the strat phase to build trenches - it gives you a reminder befoer you leave the strat phase if you have any entrnechments available.

you can only entrench a stack +1 level in a single strat phase, and you have to research higher level entrenchments - level 4 is REALLY tough.....
