"Gee I dont know why they called it The Clear?"
Hmmm... maybe b/c when you tested for roids @ that time your urine came up "clear" ......yeah maybe thats it. Or perhaps it was just vitamins and flaxseed oil.
Anyone every taste flaxseed oil?

There is a reason Hank will not be there to watch the "event".
Hank did not cheat.
O.K., the word is out, for any late comers......

I was unaware that Bonds broke the record last night. I don't follow sports all that closely. I did once work with Bonds' uncle though. I didn't put together the fact that his last name was Robert Bonds and he had a lot of Barry Bonds posters in his office until someone told me they were related. This was back in the late 1980s when Bonds was still wet behind the ears.
As far as steroids use goes, over the long haul, I think it has its own blowback. Many people who use steroids in their youth end up very sick later in life and don't live all that long. Hank Aaron is still around and enjoying his retirement 30+ years after he hit #755. I doubt Bonds will be around in 30 years.
Ultimately, is "cheating" to win a record worth it in the end? I remember reading an interview with an NFL player who was among the first to use steroids when he played. He was dying of cancer in his 50s. Cancer brought on by his steroid use. He had become something of an anti-steroid advocate in his last days.

Well, I think Bill has a point. It sure doesn't seem worth it to me.
For what we are about to receive, may we be truly thankful.

That would probably be Lyle Alzado. He used steroids a lot, and it cost him his life. Bonds may or may not have the same problem, but there should be an * by his record unless the stuff we have been reading is proven false.

Not a lot different than Boyingtons "record". 3 "kills" in China that only he seemed to know about, and the 2 he credited to himself on his last flight (since he was a squadron leader he could confirm his own kills). Most Marine pilots dont acknowledge his "record" as the leading Marine ace, from what I hear - or at least the WWII era ones dont. And I have talked to a fair number of them.

Oh boy! If they really seriously tested for roids in football I'm not sure they could field a team anywhere...not entirely fair, but there are far more steroids in football than baseball.ORIGINAL: RevRick

It is 755 career home runs, set by Hank Aaron of the Braves back in the '70's. He broke Babe Ruth's record of 714 career home runs. Barry Bonds just tied* Aaron's record the other night...

Bah ! Just goes to show you that Baseball is a game for wimps...........the highest amount for runs made in cricket was 11,953 by BC Lara.

If you are talking about "America Football", I would have completely agreed with you 10 years ago. Now they are pretty aggressive about identifying users and stopping steroid use. I'm sure there are quite a few that are "slipping through the cracks", but I think it is getting harder to get away with it.
What kind of suprised me was the recents claim that some pro golfers are using steroids.

Actually, i think the claim was for "performance-enhancing drugs", which could include steroids, but more frequently (in the case of golf) might mean beta- blockers. These can block the effects of adrenaline, and are used by athletes to keep calm under pressure in games where control is more of an issue than strength (i.e. - competitive archery, shooting, and golf).
They are also used by musicians, etc. for "stage fright". Who knows, in a few years maybe we'll see musicians have to pee in a cup before a performance!! [X(] [:'(]

I read an article yesterday that said Bond's "record" should have a question mark after it instead of a asterik.

You are right...I was duped (not doped) by the media sensationalizing everything.
I can see the next Headline...."Pee Wee coach questioned about providing sugar cookies to team before game".
