Turk deployment
I can't deploy the turk troops when Turkia start the war in 1914
Is impossible deploy troops to stop the british in jerusalen and a hq to stop

RE: Turk deployment
Rail them around with strategic movement?
I don't think you can choose where they appear. The Turks have so few units though that after a turn you can rail them around wherever you want.

Also note they start off neutral

RE: Turk deployment
when the turks start the war in 1914, you can't move any unit using strategic move or by setting it during the deploy phase
RE: Turk deployment
Correct, it will take a turn before you get any strategic movement.
The lack of rail moves at general in deployment phases simulate the usage of the rail infrastructure at mobilization by the various forces.
OE was as hopeless prepared for this war as AH was or even more so.
If the British set up to take out Basra and go early for Jerusalem perhaps together with a Russian drive through the Caucasus, then you can not prevent this physically.
But is is certainly in the capacity of Germany to punish either France or Russia for lack of proper support from Entente allies.

Hi pablo,
Correct. When a country first enters the war, its units are mobilizing and they are spending the turn marshalling there. The railroads are busy transporting these troops, so there is no railcap available for the player to use.
Also, during the first strategic phase, they are gearing up their war economy, and have no production.
On the next turn, they can move and will also get their railcap to strat move. On their next strat phase, their industry and raw material points will produce IP's (industrial points) to build things with.
Note that many of the CP allies are weak economically (AH, OE, Bulgaria). It will take some time for their war economy to fully gear-up and produce sufficient finished goods (IP's) to make things. Even then, they might need assistance to buy HQ Refits.

The British leader who starts in Palestine is a bit of a mystery to me - who was he?
the British shifted 30,000 Indian troops to protect the Canal in late 1914 - a summary of the Turkish attack is at http://www.firstworldwar.com/battles/suez.htm

Look here http://www.firstworldwar.com/bio/dobell.htm
It would seem he was occupied in other theaters during the first half of the war. I guess his many failures qualified him for being added to the British HQ force pool [8D]

RE: Turk deployment
No strategic move for the first two turkis impulse, the lost of the jerusalen and the russian frontier isn't real
But you can't stop the british and the russians
You don't have any HQ and corps ans you can't transfer it during the turkis move turn
the british arrive to take all the middle orient cities, They can do that only in 1918 really in 1915

RE: Turk deployment
No you can't stop the TE if they put their mind to it - the thing is tho, if they're spending all those activation popints against Turkey, then you should be having an easier time of it eelsewhere, so you need to be pushing with Germany and AH to take the pressure off.....

RE: Turk deployment
Hi pablomango,
Correct!
If the TE is putting that amount of effort (corps, HQ's, activations, sea supply missions) into the OE, put the pressure on France and/or Russia with Germany and A-H. Britain can't build enough arms points & naval assets while burning off 2-3 HQ activations a strategic phase to keep everything up. Russia can't build enough of anything - it can either replace losses, or replace HQ activations. Not both. Something will run out in 1915.
The OE's primary value is its extra RM's. Get those transferred to Germany, and their contribution to the war is accomplished.
Fight a delaying action up the peninsula near Basra. (Cede Jerusalem on the other side.) Spend a diplomatic point/strat phase on Bulgaria until it's in the war. Transfer the stockpiles each strat turn. Sortie the OE fleet with the A-H and exchange them for the British and French in the Med.
Keep sight of your goals. The CP wins the game by knocking France and Russia out of the war. They need the OE's resources, not its troops, to do so. Sacrifice the corps & the navy to achieve that.

Exactly Def Zep [8D]
Then again it is bad strategy for the Entente to make such a commitment in the first place. The only thing that matters in OE are their resources. Britain can easily take out Basra and the resource hex next to it, while the Russians with mobilized reserves take the resources in NE part of Turkey. Forget about further progress after that until later in the war.

It's only bad strategy for the TE to attack Turkey if it doesn't knock it out early!!!!

RE: Turk deployment
Yeah well, the problem is that the Entente is both gambling on German inability to conquer France or Russia early and that OE can be taken out early.
Quite a gamble in my opinion [8|]

If very early, before Bulgaria enters the war and establishes the land connection to allow Turkey to transfer its RM's, agree.

Correct! The OE can become a trap for the TE through clever CP play. Giving Germany a relatively free hand against France or Russia is quite risky for the TE player, and if he over-commits to this theatre, the Germans can make great gains there. Should Paris fall, or Riga/Brest-Litovsk/Warsaw, the loss of Constantinople is well-sold. The war is decided in the north.

Which was historically accurate. The British (actually Indian Army) landed at Fao and took Basra within days of Turkey entering the war - they had naval Force D standing by in case of Turkish intervention to seure the Anglo Persian oil fields.
If there is a historical criticism of the game - it is that in 1914 there is no HQ in India (perhaps with just one activation point) to accomplish this action and set the Mespot campaign alight.
RE: Turk deployment
Just deploy your at start HQ in India instead of Cairo [;)]
