Questions on LW airfields

Eagle Day to Bombing of the Reich is a improved and enhanced edition of Talonsoft's older Battle of Britain and Bombing the Reich. This updated version represents the best simulation of the air war over Britain and the strategic bombing campaign over Europe that has ever been made.

Questions on LW airfields

Post by Reg »

A couple of quick questions:

Is there any difference between airfields and their capabilities (apart from assigned flak)?? IRL there were all different sized airfields with dispersal capacities and surface types.

Airfield fuel supplies, how do they work? It appears that once you move a LW unit into a new location, that airfield starts accumulating fuel supplies. I assume the recently arrived unit cannot operate until fuel arrives next turn? What happens to the fuel at the field that was vacated (or will it remain there, ready for the next unit to fly in?)

As the allied player, what's the best method for determining which airfields to strafe. Is it just to watch the replay and see where interceptors appear or just recon likely bases??

Probably basic stuff but I'm sure others out there will be interested as well...
Cheers,
Reg.

At the moment we are working with the original defaults, of each AF being size 4, and the original limits imposed, which is generally limited to longer maintenance times.

I have plans to overhaul this, making stacking of airfields much less worthwhile, while allowing more schwarme's and staffeln before the limit is reached.

Fuel - planes transiting in to a new base have enough fuel for one sortie. After that, they have to wait on fuel, but generally they get t fairly quickly. Old airfields retain their dumps.

Recon will give you a basic count of planes at a site, but at this time we do not differentiate between types or engines. Maybe later. A/F watching is more useful, but depending on "house rules" may not be allowed.

I tend to watch recon, if recon shows planes, so be it, but during the turn, things will tend to jump out at you, if something jumps out at me, then I tend to do something about it next turn

(the AI likes to try and slip in some units close to the coast every once in a while)

as of right now, a AF is a AF is a AF
