Base Defence - Rockets or Lasers ?

Hi Guys,

I have been playing this game for quite a while and I have yet to fend off an attack by an alien spacecraft !! My bases always get defeated!! On average I have 2 Laser defence and 3 Advanced Rocket defence units - any advice ?

I have finished the game twice. I found the base defenses to be worthless. You need to either intercept the aliens with you ships, or let them capture the base and then retake it with ground combat.
