A few questions about modding LCUs

And a few questions for anyone who knows about the land units.

1) If I wanted to show which version of the USMC Rifle Squad (say) and I add the year to the name so they are USMC Rifle Squad 41, USMC Rifle Squad 42 and USMC Rifle Squad 43 etc. Will this show in the units? Does a unit (US Marine Division) only ever have one sort of USMC Rifle Squad? All of which upgrade together? Or do these never upgrade and only more 'modern' units get the newer sorts? Or does every USMC Rifle Squad change to the newest when the date for the upgrade is passed and therefore changing the name to three different names would mess the system up? Do the different values of more advanced units actually make any difference or are the ratings largely chrome and it all down to squads, leadership, fatigue, supply and dice rolls?

2) Can the replacement rates for the Japanese be altered at all. They are all (or mostly) none. If I added 100 to IJA Infantry Squads would that mean that only ever 100 per month would be built? Or an extra 'free' hundred on top of those built by armament points? Or would it just be ignored?

REPLY: We use this system in RHS.

REPLY: NEVER give Japan any replacements. If any are not set to zero- change it to zero. Replacements are present of OFF THE MAP ALLIED production - period. For good cause.

1) There can only be one squad device per upgrade path present in a LCU device slot. If you had 41squad upgrade to 42sguad then to 43squad, only one of these would be present per slot (name will appear as you mod it to). They would be replaced with the upgraded squads all at once. So, if you had 300 type 41squad, then when upgrade this would now be 42squad, but not necessarily the full compliment. If you, however, split the squads into two or more slots in the LCU, then it would be possible for different versions of the squads to exist in the same unit. Obviously increases in device stats will return a corresponding effect in combat.

2) Sans what el cid advises, which is technically correct, as a modder you can do what you want. Adding 'free' production to Japanese is questionable in historic terms, but as a game mechanic it will work.
